The Egyptian pound fell by 1.9% against the dollar, recording its lowest level since last March 14. The US dollar is currently sold for 48.54 pounds in Egyptian banks, on the first working day after the closure of the Eid al-Fitr holiday since last Monday, and it is considered the first reaction of the Egyptian currency after the Iranian attack on Israel that occurred on Sunday. Inflation in Saudi Arabia slowed again in March, after recording the highest level in 6 months the previous month. The CPI rose 1.6% last month on an annual basis, compared to 1.8% in February. This was mainly due to a slowdown in the increase in the prices of the food and beverage section, and the prices of the clothing, footwear, furniture, household appliances, transportation, and personal goods and services sections also declined. Housing rental prices continued to rise, reaching 10.5%, which is almost the same level recorded during the previous month. The European Commission has approved the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc)’s acquisition of Netherlands-based OCI Global’s stake in Fertiglobe. Chemical producer OCI Global previously held a 50% +1 stake in their joint venture Fertiglobe for AED 13.28 bn (USD 3.62 bn). The Egyptian Qalaa Financial Investments Company announced the signing of an agreement to settle its obligations towards a group of banks, according to which the company will settle all its debts to the Banque Misr, the Cairo Bank, the Arab African International Bank, and the National Bank of Kuwait. The company will exchange debts worth 4.547 billion pounds in exchange for a 17.68% stake in Taqa Arabia, while retaining the right to repurchase it within 5 years, and the banks’ right to resell it to Qalaa Company in the sixth year.
